The Art of Power by Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) is one of my favourite books. Thay writes in his usual simple, beautiful and convincing style to remind us that true power is the ability to make yourself and your loved ones happy. In our pursuit of career advancement, money and fame, we often fall in the trap to believe that these things are the source of happiness. We miss quality time with loved ones, lose touch with life and lose ourselves in order to gain more material possessions. In the end, we always want more, we lose connection with our loved ones and we are unhappy.
Thay talks about the truth powers of faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration and insights. Through these powers, we can live deeply in every moment, aware of the wonders of life, gain joy and inner peace. We are able to offer joy to our loved ones and ease their sufferings. Some good practical examples are given in the books in how to balance a business and spiritual life.
